You live, love and die.Life has many stages; birth, growth and death but love for some makes life worth living for. As I walk down the street in the early morning wind rushes by my head tress whistle in my ears as the sun makes up it's way to the top, shadows of dust lift from the ground lifting highlights of sun reflections. The bricks all aligned all forming a picture perfect square, windows never marked never touched, faces looking through it an all just remained as well as his routine. Coming to work felt like seen a picture portrait always the same nothing never changing, the room cover with four brown walls and very few sunlight hitting the crystal glass windows the room feels as cold as an ice cube touching my skin, cold as my heart, no emotions no feelings nothing transfering in this brown cemented walls around my chocolate skin body a loud unstricking door opening noise never hear before as I look back and see a brown chocolate hair moving like the oceans waves everything turned black except the spot where shes standing it's bright like a start at night with a black cloudy sky just shining at her beauty, this room never felt the same after she walk threw the old wooded door everything change in my life
In chapter 4 The Zone Robinson’s points out that doing the thing you love to do is no guarantee that you’ll be in the zone when you are completely out of this world and completely into what your passion about. Dr. Csikszentmihallyi explains on page 92 being in the zone, “state of mind when consciousness is harmoniously ordered, and [People] want to pursue whatever they are doing for its own sake… happens when Psychic energy- orattention is invested in realistic goals, and when skills match the opportunities for action.” Being in the zone is the element of enjoyment and loss of self- consciousness that activity is consuming us its power is addictive. Aaron experienced being in the zone he says, “you begin to do something you love, and the rest of the world slips away, hours pass, and it feels like a minute.”(109) In Chapter 5 Finding Your Tribe consists of two ideas one is the Domain the activities and people engaged in it we have to break from groups that makes us want to be like others and find our sense of indentity. The second idea of finding your tribe field consist of engangement in it finding purpose and inspiration is more than validation interaction provides inspiration and provocation to raise a bar on our own achivements. A great example that shows domain and field on page 129 was given when Neil failed to place a shot exactly where the fans wanted, fans would scream words of encouragement like, “Come on, you can do better than that…” Finding your tribe is about breaking from groups and finding where you belong. In chapter 6 What Will They Think finding our element consist of personal, society and cultural. Must people have to face internal obstacles to self-doubt and fear that holds you back from doing things you want to try and what you should and you shouldn’t do. Pulling away from the loved ones can help you reach your dreams. “The tendency to conformity in our society is so strong…reasonably intelligent and well-meaning youth people are willing to call white black. This is a matter of concern”(144) Asch was instructed to give incorrect answers to students and with this it showed that for students not wanting to be singled out they went along with the wrong answer and went with the flow. In Chapter 7 do you feel lucky, Being good at and having passion it’s not enough it depends of fundamental view of matter of attitude ourselves determine whether or not we find and live in our element. Lucky people love what they do and have an opportunity to purse them. Unlucky people don’t like what they are doing they have has bad things happen to them and makes a difference in their lives.
Production Reflective Essay
My role at the Nueva production Sent was building the set. My individual responsibilities working on set was building Seth scene it consisted of getting a desk, designing a logo and adding three monitors on desk, building a wall an attaching a couch to Jason’s scene, I was also responsible of all the tools being used I had to make sure they were put away at right place before leaving.
A challenge I faced during this production was working with limited tools, materials and time, it made the work twice as hard because everything had limitation. Constructing made it really hard because we were not able to used tools to cut and the people in charge of cutting were not there most of the time because they were working on something else or were busy trying to finish their responsibilities we had to leave everything there until Chavis or Tyler were back and had time to cut a piece of wood because we were prohibit of using cutting tools and the would take time away because we would have to find another task.
My personal growth experienced through this production has being gaining the ability of communicating asking questions, working as a team and having detailed ideas. For Seth scene Sandra and I printed the Youtube logo and changed it to Sethtube creating a vizualize idea of what we were trying to create and took a picture of the desk we were going to work with to make it easier for the directors to visualize our idea. Our set group was a really collaborated group all of us helped each other and we did not only focus on our responsibilities we were helping each other with ideas and building. I helped build and paint the pageant, kitchen, and break up scene.
Set helped me develop the skills of multi-tasking, communicating and collaborating. This skills would transfer as a job because jobs are design for people work together having had the opportunity to really use this skills makes it easier for me on a job because now I have gained the ability to know how to work as a team combining ideas. When building Jason’s sense Ganzler, Chavis, Sandra and I had to worked as a team and come up with an idea to attach the couch to a piece of wood the had already wheels attach we try everyones idea until we figure out how the couch would stay attach.
I believe the I did a great job in this production and the I would have had a raise if I was on a job because I put a lot of work and though on everything I did. In the poem, “The Garden” by Ezra Pound . It was published in 1913 when London conference of 1912-1913 an also known as the Treaty of London, the conferenced intended to have an agreement were Greece, Romania, and serbia fought over the European territories of the Ottoman Empire. The negotiation of The London Peace Conference failed. would give up all territory of the Esno-Media Line, Ottoman Empire was unwilling to give up Turkey leading to Balkan War were opposed Bulgarian from the territory taken away from Turkey. Sonny’s Blues Essay
The story Sonny's Blues by the author James Baldwin takes place in Harlem, New York in the 1950's. During the 1950's African Americans were forced to lived of prejudice, discrimination, poverty, and suppression. The author James Baldwin is an African American writer during the era of civil rights activism in the 1950s and 1960s, grew up in poverty, developing a troubled relationship with his strict, religious stepfather. As a child, he cast for a way to escape his circumstances. As he recalls, “I knew I was black, of course, but I also knew I was smart. Throughout the story James Baldwin explains how people from the era copes with suffering, pain and try to find a way to not suffer.The author Baldwin's uses the life of two African Americans brothers with similar personal struggle with society.
The short story of Sonny’s Blues by the author James Baldwin is about two African Americans a jazz musician an Algrebra teacher from Harlem who are deeply affected by poverty, discrimination and supression. Drugs are a central part of the story, but it's also about family, music, and trying to overcome life's struggles. Sonny is an African American young jazz muscian who becomes addicted to drugs and heroin because he feels trapped lack of opportunies in his community an in what he's supposed to so versus what he wants to do. He's trying to find his way in the world. The Narrator is an Algebra teaches the comes to assimilate into white society as much as possible but still feels the pain of institutional racism and the limits placed upon his opportunity to succed. The two brothers sort of reconnect after they both try to deal with their anger towards each other.
The narrator of the story Sonny's brother tries to insulate himself against the problem the African Americans would not succeed, he believes that by denying his true self and closing to what brings him pleasure and satisfaction he would succeed and fit in with white society, the author james uses the symbol of a trap to show how African American were really limited to opportunies, “Some escaped the trap, most didn’t. Those who got out always left something of themselves behind, as some animals amputate a leg and leave it in the trap. It might be said, perhaps, that I had escaped, after all, I was a school teacher.”(7) . The author Baldwin explains the narrator feelings towards denying the problem, "A great block of ice got settled in my belly and kept melting there slowly all day long, while I taught my classes algebra. It was a special kind of ice. It kept melting, sending trickles of ice water all up and down my veins, but it never got less. Sometimes it hardened and seemed to expand until I felt my guts were going to come spilling out or that I was going to choke or scream."(SB pg.1). The narrator assimilates into white society as much as possible but still feels the pain of institutional racism and the limits placed upon his opportunity.
The character Sonny uses his emotions and the feeling of suffering to understand the world around him. He comes to the understanding that people use art, music, alcohol, drugs or anything to get through their suffering because it gives them a transformative power and the all of humanity suffers at one point or another during the course of their lives. The author James uses the conection of suffering to unite humans and ways to cope with individuals pain to brings them together. "...heroin feels like sometimes-when it's in your veins. It makes you feel sort of warm and cool at the same time. And distant."(20). Sonny uses drugs as a way to deal with the world around him because he was against the social views and felt that society was wrong in the way they looked at African Americans and that life was always going to be a struggle for them because they would never enjoy the success of whites. Sonny drug use was because he was trying to escape reality and finding a way in life to obtain happiness.
At the end of the story Sonny and the narrator come to understand each other as Sonny is trying to explain his addiction to heroin and his passion for music. Nightmares and Dreams
I come from a family that has been marked by tragedies. I lost my dad at the age of eight when he was kidnapped by some guys with black clothing and guns. I was just a little girl and there was nothing I could do except to hope that he would come back. I never imagined that he was gone forever and that I wouldn't have someone to guide me and look out for me as I grew up. I arrived to United States at the age of nine with my mom, 5 siblings and a sister within a month to be born. We had nothing and wanted to escape from Tumbiscatio Michoacan, Mexico. We were looking for a place far away from where this tragedy happened. I had to learn a new language that was no easy and adapt to a whole new environment. My mom had to hide all her sadness, tears and be strong for us. Growing up, I would sit on a rock with my grandpa Agustin under a tree with long leaves hanging down and the breeze of the wind blowing across our face, we sat there for hours telling stories. Now I sit in a room with white walls, telling my little sister stories of a father that she did not get the opportunity to meet.
Now, I’m on a journey by myself. I’m happy for the success I’ve had. The nightmare that I wanted to wake from led to where I am now. I have had the opportunities to learn a new language. I was not good at speaking English, and it took me longer to carry my knowledge from my brain to my tongue. I discovered that no matter how much grammar and vocabulary I knew, if I was not exposed to situations that make me have to use it, I would not be able to master it in real life.
Growing up, I have met many people who have gone through similar experiences. I now know what I would like to do in my future, when I’m done with my education. Volunteering in my community, and working with kids has inspired me to pursue a career in law enforcement. I want to become a k9 officer to help my community and also to help people not to face what I have faced. I found that k9 officer is the best fit for me to create a safe environment for everyone. My family didn’t believe I would be capable of achieving what I have achieved so far with my education and my grades, and they didn’t encourage me that way I would have liked to. Regardless, I am thankful that they pointed me in the right direction and encouraged me to make my own way.
